Ecclesiastes 2

Hey y’all and welcome to this week’s Teaching Tuesday Thread.   I hope y’all are doing well and feeling great.   This week’s post is on the Ecclesiastes of the month.   ECCLESIASTES 2   First, the NIV translation Pleasures Are Meaningless 1 I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good.” But that also proved to be meaningless.  2 “Laughter,” I said, “is madness. And what does pleasure accomplish?”  3 I tried cheering myself with wine, and embracing folly—my mind still guiding me with wisdom. I wanted to see what was good for people to do under the heavens during the few days of their lives. 4 I undertook great projects: I built houses for myself and planted vineyards.  5 I made gardens and parks and planted all kinds of fruit trees in them.  6 I made reservoirs to water groves of flourishing trees.  7 I bought male and female slaves and had other slaves who were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jer

Ecclesiastes 1, 2021

Hey y’all and welcome to another post.   As I am sure you have assumed from the title, this post is on Ecclesiastes chapter 1.   In this post I will be giving my favorite verse from 2 different translations, and then the whole chapter from another version.   Ready, set, here we go…   ECCLESIASTES 1 NLT 8 Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.   ECCLESIASTES 1 ESV 15   See ch. 7:13 What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be counted.   17 And I  ver. 13; [ch. 2:3, 12; 7:23, 25] applied my heart to know wisdom and to know  ch. 9:3 madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but  [See ver. 14 above] a striving after wind.   ECCLESIASTES 1 CEV   Nothing Makes Sense 1 When the son of David was king in Jerusalem, he was known to be very wise, 1.1  known to be very wise:  This stands for the Hebrew word often translated “preacher”

Year in Reflection

Hey y’all and welcome to another Teaching Tuesday Thread.   I pray that y’all and your family and friends and healthy and doing well.   So I’m sure you’ve heard or have even said yourself a variety of how no one can wait for 2020 to be over.   I’m not going to pretend that my 2020 hasn’t had its “down in the bottom of the pit below the mud that’s below the valley that slid off the road that was already trudging up a mountain.”   There have been some great times too.   Also, some unbelievable “only God can do this” type times as well.   So I will recap my unbelievable 2020 Jesus Journey for you.   I hope it inspires and encourages you to look for the silver lining that you’ve had throughout your year.   Let me remind you that this has nothing to do with me, but everything to do with God.   He deserves all the glory and praise! January 2020                     I published my second episode of “Womanly Wisdom Wednesday” February 2020                   While things were starting

Announcement

Hey y’all and welcome to another post. Today’s post is to let you know about my upcoming post that I have been working on. Everywhere I go all I seem to hear is about how 2020 is the worst year ever and can’t wait to kick it out the door. While, yes, I can agree with that, there were positive things that came in 2020. I typically try to look at the positive side of things especially when things surrounding me are so very negative. After all, God tells us in His word that we are to be the light. We need to be God's light, let it shine and let it spread. So that is what I am attempting to do in my follow up post. In my follow up post I will be recalling something positive from every month for the year 2020. This is to help me see that not everything in this part year has been horribly terrible. I pray that 2021 is a blessing for everyone. I truly hope that these posts are able to spread hope, encouragement, and inspiration. Until next time, much love and may peace be wit

Ecclesiastes 12 2020

Hey y’all, and welcome to this month’s Ecclesiastes blog post.   This month is chapter 12 and talks about obeying God’s commandments before your youth leaves you.     ECCLESIASTES 12 1 Don’t let the excitement of youth cause you to forget your Creator. Honor him in your youth before you grow old and say, “Life is not pleasant anymore.”  2 Remember him before the light of the sun, moon, and stars is dim to your old eyes, and rain clouds continually darken your sky.  3 Remember him before your legs—the guards of your house—start to tremble; and before your shoulders—the strong men—stoop. Remember him before your teeth—your few remaining servants—stop grinding; and before your eyes—the women looking through the windows—see dimly. 4 Remember him before the door to life’s opportunities is closed and the sound of work fades. Now you rise at the first chirping of the birds, but then all their sounds will grow faint. 5 Remember him before you become fearful of falling and worry abo
