This was hard for me in the beginning because I was taught to have goals and make plans on how to make those goals happen. We are taught to have life goals, yearly goals, monthly goals, weekly goals, and daily goals. First, if you aren't praying about any of these, they will most likely fail. We need the guidance of the Holy Spirit for direction in making goals and plans. Also, we can plan all the things we would like but there's no sense in worrying about them because you never know what God has in store which is why He only says to to do what you can today. He tells us not to worry since that only comes out of fear or it will only bring about fear.... Fear is NOT a fruit of the Spirit!
